Cardholder Safety Tips

PROTECT YOUR PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (PIN) - IT IS YOUR ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE

MEMORIZE IT

NEVER DISCLOSE YOUR PIN TO ANYONE

NEVER WRITE IT DOWN

NEVER CARRY IT WITH YOU IN A DISGUISED FORM

  • When selecting a PIN always avoid the obvious, eg. your name, street address, telephone number, social insurance number, date of birth, etc.
  • A debit card is the key to your account(s).  The card should never be "lent" to anyone, including friends and family.
  • Never let your debit card out of sight when conducting a transaction.  After completing a transaction, remember to take your card and , if provided, your transaction record with you.
  • When conducting any transaction, use your hand or body to shield the entry of your PIN
  • Always conduct transactions with your debit card when and where you feel secure.  If you are uncomfortable, do not use it.
  • Check your statements regularly and notify your Credit Union immediately if you detect any unusual activity, for example, purchases you did not make or missing charges.
  • If your debit card is lost, stolen or retained by an ATM, notify your Credit Union immediately.
  • Remember, your safety come first.  Report any theft incident to the police and to your Credit Union.
